Chart positions

This show was 8th in the global funk chart, 24th in the global jazz chart and 26th in the global soul chart.

At age 93 CREED TAYLOR died on August 22, 2022. The pioneer of Jazz first worked for Verve and was one of the founders of the Impulse label until he estabilshed a record company in New York which was named after himself. CREED TAYLOR INCORPORATED (CTI). Even though the CTI sound was designed for commercial success Taylor's productions always served his high standard of excellence. True musicianship meets a smooth sound in this mix. Some tunes such as PAVANE (G. Fauré) are even crossing over to classical music. The arrangements of the chosen 13 tracks are mesmerizing. As Mr. Taylor‘s first musical love has been Bossa Nova (I think) I've chosen Antônio Carlos Jobim to open and close this set. Thank you Mr. Taylor for the musical legacy you left us with. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.

Derek T.

Great set SP. I grew up on CTI in the 70s and I believe they were still riding high in the 80s. Thanks for sharing this 😀👍🏿

The Soul Preacher

Thanks StanLee. I really like the CTI sound and had a separate special for its 'little brother' the Kudu label. Anything from these two lables in the 1970s is just fantastic. Creed Taylor gave 'his' artists the space and freedom they needed to unfold their talent. They paid him back with this timeless music. So good!

DJ Chaz Meads
