Welcome to episode 1 of Black is Black - a show hosted by DJ Lindsey that explores the continuing legacy of the Black music diaspora.
"This debut episode is focused on Black Social Dances. Black folks have used dance as a way to celebrate, to mourn and to communicate. For some of us who have very little connection to our African roots the one lasting artifact has been the culture that we created for ourselves. But we do have these ancestral connections to Africa that have survived through all these years. One of those connections is the foundation for all of our dance movements.
You’ll hear some juke, some bass music, Ballroom, and so much more. We hope you’ll be up and doing your best footwork, twerk, 'wine, running man, duck walks and dips. What better way to compile songs for an inaugural show than that?
