Alan Freeman's Pick of the Pops Take 3 on Capital Gold: November 1970

Playing tracks by

Freda Payne, The Detroit Spinners, Jackson 5, Chairmen Of The Board, Jimmy Ruffin and more.

For some reason I only recorded the first part and not 1967. I can only assume I had no spare tape. The other side is November 1976 which I'll upload next time.

Or does the date refer instead to the discs played?

Yes Fred. The date shown is from the year featured on his show. Sorry if it's misleading!

Simon, the date of this recording is wrong because Capital Radio didn't start until October 1973. And if this clip is from "Capital Gold" it could not be earlier than 1st November 1988 which is the date they started with split programming AM/FM.

Much enjoying these shows - slightly regretful, though, that they all seem to be from the last phase of the show when it was featuring entirely made-up charts? Apart from what you uploaded before, do you have anything from the era when they featured two Top 20s, or even anything from the era (Nov 94 - Aug 95 I think) when they featured three Top 10s ten years apart, or the first era of the show when they were pretty much featuring original NME charts without substituting records? Obviously, this is nit-picking - these shows have been so rare that anything is worth hearing, even if I do find earlier eras of the show more potentially interesting (precisely because they're rarer still!).

How many times Robin have I said to myself, "If only I had recorded more".., and sadly I just have three more shows to go from this era. I am quite surprised though, given the vast amount of Fluff's shows which are appearing on various sites, that nobody seems to have any from his Capital Gold days. I would dearly love to hear them now. If you come across any which are posted, please let me know. Am glad however that you have enjoyed these.
