I grew up in London’s West End in the international atmosphere of my Mother’s B&B where all her guests were treated equally no matter where they came from or thought they came from. I’m grateful for her example, now I have friends from all over the World.
My influences are rangy and eclectic, from my early years Joan Baez and Bob Dylan to Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd and Bob Marly, From Billie Holiday to Nina Simone and Joni Mitchell, Geoffrey Oryema to Dollar Brand, Puccini and Maria Callas, Leonard Cohen, Toots and the Maytals...and so so many more, I am very Lucky to have such a rich tapestry to enjoy.
In an interview on GLR when DJ, Reggae Queen Miss ‘P’ asked me,“what was the difference between” me and “your usual Lovers Rocker” At first I had no idea what she was referring to, finally the Penny dropped and replied in Spanish about being milk without Coffee. Of course there is a lot of Coffee in my Music and Artwork. So don’t expect one style from me.
