Joseph of Arimathea is mentioned in each of the four Gospels; each one gives us a little more information. Matthew tells us he was a rich man who had become a disciple of Jesus. Mark tells us he was a prominent member of the Sanhedrin, and that he gathered up his courage to see Pilate. Luke says he was a good and righteous man who had not consented to the council’s plan. John tells us he was a disciple secretly. Of all times, he waits until Jesus is dead to step out of the shadows and declare himself. Joseph gives us a picture of courage, faith, hope, and love.
