This sixth sermon in the series on Christian Calling, we are taking a look at what success in our work looks like. It is hard to labor when you don’t know that your work is successful.
In American culture, success in our work is tied to our personal feelings of satisfaction. Or sometimes to how much money we are making. Too often the message from the culture is that you are the one who has to be happy about what it is your doing and if you are happy, that is all that matters. Parents tell their children that they can be anything they want. That if they work hard enough they will be successful. Sadly enough, Christians will say the same things! However, if our work is seen through the gospel and as an extension of God’s work in bringing a new heaven and new earth, then success cannot be defined as doing what you want or working hard enough to be anything you want!
