Is The Law Opposed to The Promises of God?

Sermon Summary:
Paul has been making the case that it is through faith, apart from the law, that we are justified before God.  He states it clearly in chapter two of Galatians, verse 16,“... a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ,” or better, “by the faith of Jesus Christ.”  Paul continues driving this point home giving the example of Abraham, “Consider Abraham: ‘he believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.’” (Gal. 3.6) In our text this morning Paul goes deeper into the relationship between “Promise” and “Law.”  He asks the most important question we could ask in verse 21 of Chapter 3, “Is the Law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God?”  His answer is immediate and clear, “Absolutely not!” Commenting on this text Tim Keller says that Paul, “gives us a tremendous key to understanding the Bible and seeing it as something with coherence and cogency
