Being our first record together, I’m inevitably asked by interviewers why I wanted to work with Bill Wells. I first heard his music at the very end of the last century when Domino released his album with Future Pilot AKA, a fantastic mash-up of sampled beats and jazz that sounded not that far from David Axelrod’s best moments. But it was his 2002 LP, Also In White, that really struck me. I can’t quite explain why, but it sounds like a perfect city soundscape; when it’s not forming a crack in your heart, it makes you think of rooftops and neon and busy streets. Dear Aidan. I love this mix!

Bill's Also In White is genuinely one of my all-time favourite albums. I don't know why I love it so much. For some reason it just speaks to my soul. I stumbled on your comments about Also In White at and, not only did I discover there that you'd created this awesome Bill Wells mix, but you also described your thoughts about Also In White, and what you said really resonated with me, particularly "It sounds like a perfect city soundscape". Yes! It really does, and I didn't even know that until you told me! I was introduced to Also In White after I'd bought the Hallam Foe soundtrack. I immediately fell in love with Bill's contribution and bought the Also In White album off the back of it. I've never made such a good investment. I adore the album and have played in many, many times over the prevailing years. If you see Bill again, please give him a big hug from me and tell him that there's a stranger out here who's life would have a hole in it if it weren't for his album. Also, thanks again to you. I am now very much enjoying your Bill mix. It is wonderful. Thank you for creating it.

All the best, Rob
