From 1985 until 2018, Toronto's radio station Q107 hosted a weekly show called Psychedelic Sunday, which as the name suggests was devoted to psychedelia - specifically from the era between 1965 and 1976. I enjoyed listening to it from time to time, and was sad to see it go. Although most of the songs dated from before I was born, I was familiar with them thanks to having parents who played 'the oldies' just as often as current pop music. Not just The Beatles and The Stones, but King Crimson, The Zombies, The Yardbirds, Pink Floyd, and the host of obscure 'garage' bands featured on the 'Nuggets' compilation. My father's taste for psych and prog rock would influence my own musical interests in the years to come. For this mix, I focus on the years 1966-1969, with some familiar favorites alongside more obscure selections. Enjoy the trip!
