This week on Scottscope Talk Radio, the roundtable will be discussing guilty pleasures! Guilty pleasures are technically “bad” films that still manage to be highly entertaining in spite of their perceived badness. In the past decade alone, there have been plenty of movies that fall into that category. On Scottscope, we’ll be discussing them all, or at least, as many as we have time for. We’ll also be answering some of the burning questions surrounding these little gems. Are any of them misunderstood masterpieces? Were some of them visionary and ahead of their time? Can any of them be regarded as admirable failures? If a guilty pleasure is intentionally bad, does it truly qualify as a guilty pleasure? If a film manages to be entertaining, should it truly be considered “bad”? Is Howard the Duck really one of the worst films ever made, or can it now be seen as an early precursor to recent hits such as Ted?
