Santiago Orozco was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
He learned to sing mariachi when he was 6 years old. Eventually at 8 he picked up the acoustic guitar and started to sing and play in music competitions and festivals. At 12, he started to study music theory and electric guitar in Universidad Americana de Acapulco music school. Young Santiago was heavily influenced by Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and Jarábedepalo at a time when every kid was into Guns N'Roses and Metallica.
Santiago was later influenced by Steven Wilson, Pink Floyd and Marillion. Soon after he began playing guitar, he made his first band JUST, and started to play Latin rock covers in national radio festivals, private events and local TV shows. He was also introduced to a variety of new musical influences, including psychedelic rock from not only Hendrix, but The Beatles, King Crimson and Tame Impala. He also got into Flamenco music, learning by ear from Paco de Lucia, Ruben Diaz and Niño Joséle.
