"ROOTS" DJ Roadkill House Mix 03-01-14

Playing tracks by

Black Coffee, Oscar P & Swift, Argy, Bajka, Bucie, Heavy-K, Black Coffee & Bucie and more.

My tribute to my African heritage. The beginning sound clip comes from PBS movie "The Underground Railroad- The William Still Story". See William Still is my 3rd Great Uncle who was a main operative on The Underground Railroad. My thoughts all week were about my family's story of Charity and Levin Still who were two former slaves. Charity escaped twice to freedom. I imagined the drums leading her way to freedom. This mix is dedicated to my African heritage. I hope that I take you on a journey. Roadkill

hey Dj,, this is very special, and I can feel your respect and the admiration you hold for your heritage which is quite right and proper, this is all new to me I have not heard any of the tracks before, but I think I can feel the esteem you hold for your heritage, and I applaud you for that. I am a firm believer that without African music, music would never have evolved into all the forms we have today, we would still be listening to classical music with its non rhythmic or very melodous syncopation, I truly believe that Africa has given the world a beautiful gift, and one that I myself am very gratetful for, loving what i am hearing,, Bajka is wondErful, i really like her a lot, her voice is so distinct and she can tell a story so beautifully, I will check out the rest of this tomorrow as it is quite late here and I have work in the morning, really enjoyed what I have heard so far, thanks for sharing this is wonderful music, Beautiful. will be back tomorrow evening for the rest of it, Thankyou for sharing it.
