Playing tracks by
Ustad Imrat Khan and Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.
In our culture we have such respect for musical instruments, they are like part of God. – Ravi Shankar
We present the world with our second volume in our Music for Relaxation and Meditation series. The two tracks we picked for today’s mix are both very long and traditional raga’s from two masters of their instruments.
The first piece is from Ustad Imrat Khan and is called Mian Ki Malahar. Ustad Imrat Khan is the younger brother of legendary sitar player Ustad Vilyat Khan. Imrat Khan has studied sitar and surbhar and evokes wave after wave of tranquility. The second piece is from Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and is called Abhogi. The song is also a long form raga that draws upon layers and layers of steady momentum like the first one. Focusing on each nuance adds a level of relaxation that is very rewarding for the body, mind and soul. Please listen with an open mind and in a comfortable setting. - Erik Otis
