What a beautiful picture of how Paul spent those last couple of years in Rome, the ones Luke chronicled for us. And what a beautiful place to be in life. He was where he was supposed to be, being whom he was supposed to be, doing what he was supposed to do. This all is what he was born and born again to do and to be. It is in those last moments through which Luke walks us that we are given that stark reminder that the only thing that stands between us and the healing and restoring power of God in our lives is our stubborn and willful unbelief. Isaiah the prophet notes that if they would only have turned, then the Lord could have healed them. But, as it was with Jerusalem so many centuries later, they would not. And so Paul goes out the way he came in. proclaiming the Kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ, with all boldness and without hindrance!
