How utterly fascinating as we see the Lord's strategy begin to unfold before our very eyes. Of course, it's been there all along. Yet, sometimes what the Lord does and how he's doing it seems hidden in plain sight, until we finally begin to put all the pieces together. We cannot understand why it was so important for Paul to testify to the Lord in Jerusalem and also in Rome unless we do so in the context of the Lord's encounter with the devil in the wilderness in Luke 4. There, the devil boasts that all the kingdoms of the earth are his and he can give them to whomever he wants. Now, with Paul testifying to the Lord in Jerusalem, the heart of the covenant and the throne of David, and testify in Rome, the center of power for the whole world, we see how empty the devil's boast really was. True, those kingdoms were ruled over him for awhile, until the True King was ready and came assaulting all the lies with his truth and grace and mercy and love. Paul has at last come to Rome.
