Originally broadcast Thurs 8.11.12 7-9pm Hour 2: The New Folk Revival:
This week’s show is a little different. After the success of Mumford & Sons on both sides of the Atlantic with their number One album ‘Babel’, there has been a resurgence in the kind of new folk music that they are flag wavers for. So I have selected the best bands of that genre, all of whom have produced new albums in the last year and will be playing a selection of the best music in this area – from the Mumfords themselves, the Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, the Staves and Little Green Cars in the first hour and in the second hour some magnificent new bands leading the new folk revival such as Noah and the Whale, the Mercury-nominated Ben Howard, the brilliant Dry The River and finishing with the LA-based Laural Canyon sounding Dawes who I promise you will love.
