Governor Jerry Brown is considering a stack of bills on his desk. One of them, AB 1561 was authored by SoCal Assembly member Cristina Garcia. This bill would eliminate the tax on feminine hygiene items such as tampons. It was unanimously passed by both houses of the California Legislature!
Yet, Governor Brown vetoed it.
Ronn starts the conversation with Assembly member Cristina Garcia.
> Is there a future for this bill? Veto override?
> Assembly member Garcia says she's looking at options, but will most likely wait to re-introduce it next year.
> Some callers feel it was a fiscally prudent decision by the Governor.
> Others feel the Governor is trying to balance the budget on the backs of women. After all, there is no tax charged for Viagra.
