Episode 11 - The Nine Muses of Michelangelo

Michelangelo

The Greeks believed that the nine muses were goddesses that inspired mortals to create. Creative art, science, literature. To be visited by the muse was to be given the urge to create something and leave your mark on the world. Michelangelo was able to look at a 17-foot tall piece of marble and see The David. Look at a blank ceiling and see God reaching out and touching man. He was a man tortured by the presence and absence of his muse and it’s many manifestations. But before the men, there was marble.Support us on Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/romancinghistorypodcastLike us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RomancingHistoryPodcast  Visit our website: https://www.romancinghistorypodcast.comSourcesBull, George, Peter Porter, Michelangelo Buonarroti, and Ascanio Condivi. Michelangelo, Life, Letters, and Poetry.
