Echoes Of Zion and Aretha Franklin.
This gospel based, all 78 mix is the third in the LO & BEHOLD Mix Series and this one was curated by Adam Stanfel and Richie Wohlfeil. It features a lot of Detroit gospel, some ancient, some modern, from a battered Blind Willie Johnson to the beginnings of Aretha. Trad. quartets to the abstract (i.e. the great Rev. Utah Smith) are all here and spinning at seventy eight revolutions per minute—hey! if in this world occurred 78 REVOLUTIONS per minute, this place just might be saved! so, LISTEN PEOPLE WHAT I SAY!
Photo is of a sticker promoting Joe's Record Shop, owned by the great Joe Von Battle who outta his humble record shop in Detroit's Black Bottom gave us great gospel/rhythm and blues labels J-V-B and VON. This mix is dedicated to him and other buried spirits neath the nearly forgotten history of Hastings street.
