Tonights show was bookended with Glasgow based post-rock outfit Eska. Eska's remarkably intricate and delicate (with some heavy overtones) album Invent the Fortune was released back in 2000 under the Gringo Records label. A claim to fame in that Stuart Braithwaite had previously drummed for Eska in the mid to late 90's before joining Mogwai. We all love Mogwai fear Satan! However this show is particularly special because Gary Davis joins the Vinyl Show once again. Only this time with a more filmic theme. The film Singles features heavily on tonight's show, especially as it had brought the indie/grunge sub-culture to the mainstream. The film primarily focused on the Seattle Grunge scene of the early 90's with contributions from Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Lovemongers, Mother Love Bone, Mudhoney, Chris Cornell and Soundgarden. As always The Vinyl Show is a learning experience, so immerse yourself with myself and the legend that is of course Gary Davis.
