Recently released on ECM New Series, and inspired by the work of 19th century Austrian Romantic writer Adalbert Stifter, who documented the signs and sounds of nature, Heiner Goebbels' soundtrack to the infamous installation 'Stifters Dinge' is a work teeming with soundsources, ranging from J.S. Bach to chants of natives (New Guinea, Greece) and overlapping voices by Claude Lévi-Strauss, William S. Burroughs and Malcolm X.
