I had hoped this recording was going to play the Band of Gypsys Live at the Fillmore but instead was subjected to a very long draw out round table discussion of the merits of Jimi, Buddy and Biily’s musicianship by a group of people who had no understanding of what they were talking about and could only look back at their music with the benefit of their limited knowledge 48 years after the music was created. The Band of Gypsys album was completely ground breaking in ways that had never been done before and continued Jimi’s march forward as a true originator until his untimely death later that year. As someone who lived through that era at least I can speak with the knowledge of first hand experience.
