I Was A Crochet World Model

I Was A Crochet World Model

Chart positions

This show was 1st in the global indie rock chart, 3rd in the global indie chart, 3rd in the global eclectic chart, 6th in the global alternative chart and 18th in the global electronica chart.

Crochet World, similar to our world, but where everything is crocheted and the music is a tad off-kilter - not-quite-right covers, edits, samples, motifs.

Ever since one of my favorite mixclouders DJ Ginger Snapp injected TOBACCO’s unsettling, addicting cover of Hungry Eyes in my life, a mix of oddities has been festering in a corner of my brain. https://www.mixcloud.com/gingersnapp

I’ve also been obsessed with my awesome colleague’s music - their band Body Games is innovative as hell in the sampling/homage department, and they open the mix. Check ‘em: https://bodygames.bandcamp.com/

Then, I stumbled across some Crochet World magazines from the ‘80s - I’m now convinced that Crochet World is truly a parallel world and not just a collection of crochet patterns. Something in the eyes of the models. You can see it.

What does this all mean? I HAVE NO IDEA, but together it delivered this mix with Vin Diesel as the afterbirth. Is everyone else exhausted too?

Might have to make PHIL COLLINS RINGTONE for you on my phone.

A lady at the coffee shop today was crocheting a scarf.

Crochet World trivia: In Crochet World, this would not be much of a story. A more notable and engaging story would be “A lady at the coffee shop today was NOT crocheting a scarf.” which would cause everyone to perk up their ears, exhale audibly, and wonder what the heck was wrong with that lady. Such a story might even distract the average listener from their crocheting.

Might have to figure out how to make PHIL COLLINS RINGTONE my ringtone.

Crochet World trivia: In Crochet World, international law dictates that the only allowable ringtone on the planet is Undone (The Sweater Song) by Weezer. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great song, but it does wear out after a bit. Kind of cool they translated it into every language though.

Wow great music for stargazing in the high desert.

Crochet World trivia: In Crochet World, stargazing isn’t forbidden, but it’s generally frowned upon because if you’re staring up at the sky, you’re probably not keeping your eyes on your crocheting.

Thanks for the love and support! I’m always incredibly thrilled to hear that one of mixes temporarily became a soundtrack to someone else’s great experience. All the best!

Michael Absher

I'm a sucker for a good cover. Especially a crocheted one. For my duvet.
I've gone off topic.
I'll come in again. *door closes*

Crochet World trivia: In Crochet World, even the doors are crocheted, which creates serious security and insulation issues. But hey, that’s culture for you.

But seriously folks, thanks for checking out my mix and pointing out an extremely appropriate pun I missed! All the best.

The Kitchen Sink

Stuck spinning yarns in a phone booth in Potato Land, I can only dream of Crochet World........

Crochet World trivia: In Crochet World, phone booth are still very common, and are in fact used for when one needs to spin yarn in public. I suspect you have actually been to Crochet World and are playing coy.

And thanks for checking this out! I really enjoyed your last show and look forward to future ones.

The Kitchen Sink

My grandmother crocheted a blanket, so it's possible that in my sleep I was transported to CW, but that was long long ago, back when CW Models were still a thing of the future......Yep, super sounds in CW, cheers!

The music no longer seems off-kilter. Have I entered Crochet World?

I think I am getting unlimited plays on this mix from MixCloud.

Crochet World trivia: In Crochet World, all restaurants have unlimited breadsticks, but they are crocheted out of yarn, which makes them completely unpalatable.

Update, maybe they let you have unlimited breadsticks for the first day only.

I am crying

Crochet World trivia: In Crochet World, crying is not seen as a sign of weakness, instead, it’s a sign that you accidentally crocheted your handkerchief out of fiberglass.

Crochet World trivia: In Crochet World, Vanna White’s name is spelled Vanna VVhite to recognize her well-known status as a powerful witch. Unlike most people who have dopplegängers in Crochet World, there is in fact only one Vanna, and she is able to pass between our world and Crochet World. This duality is represented in her ability to wield both the crochet hook and knitting needles with ease and confidence, and despite her knitting activities, which would generally lead to shunning in Crochet World, Vanna remains respected for her supernatural abilities. Bonus fact: She uses the same power which allows her to move between worlds whenever she spins letters on Wheel of Fortune. Before spinning, the letters actually face into Crochet World. As a result, Wheel of Fortune is an even more intensely boring show in Crochet World - everyone starts out knowing the answer and they spin to lose letters and money. Nevertheless, it has inexplicably remained on the air for over 45 years, just like in our world.
