Sailing on Cosmic Winds (a seventies jazz fusion set)

Sailing on Cosmic Winds (a seventies jazz fusion set)

Playing tracks by

Secret Oyster, Happy The Man, Gentle Giant, Automatic Man, Hummingbird and more.

This set started out on the Teac 3340 in 1977. Mostly jazz fusion but a few jazz / progressive rock crossovers. We start with two songs from Secret Oyster, a band from Denmark, from their 1976 album, Straight To The Krankenhaus. Then, two songs from Happy The Man from their 1977 self-titled album; Gentle Giant from their 1972 album, Octopus; Automatic Man from their 1977 album, Visitors; Maynard Ferguson from his 1976 album, Primal Scream; Jack Lancaster & Robin Lumley (with Percy Jones, Simon Jeffes, Phil Collins, John Goodsall, and Morris Pert) from their 1976 album, Marscape; Brand X (with Percy Jones, John Goodsall, Jack Lancaster, Robin Lumley, and Phil Collins) from their 1976 album, Unorthodox Behaviour (those musicians were quite busy in the seventies); Gary Boyle from his 1977 album, The Dancer (produced by Robin Lumley with Morris Pert on Percussion and Maggie Pert on Voice); and finally, Al DiMeola (with Steve Gadd on Drums) from his 1978 album, Casino.
