The Deadly Coast" is a series of five half-hour programmes. Each explores a shipwreck that has occurred around the coast of West Clare, its impact at the time, and the often far-reaching effects of the shipwreck down through history. These programmes were made with the assistance of the Sound & Vision scheme administered by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
In this programme, the wrecks (and narrow escapes!) of several ships from the Spanish Armada, along the West Clare coast are discussed by Michael Carrig and John Rattigan. They tell how some of the sailors managed to escape back to Spain, but how some met grisly ends in Quilty and Spanish Point.
