Scropul National School will very reluctantly close its doors for the last time at the end of this Summer Term, after 152 years of educating the children of this beautiful part of West Clare, overlooking Doo Lough. To mark the occasion, the Board of Management and Staff of Scropul National School have produced a historical book “Scropul N.S. 1860—2012”. This outside broadcast came live from the school on the evening of Wednesday 6th June 2012, as the school prepared for the launch of the book at the Bellbridge House Hotel, Spanish Point on Saturday 9th June. The book is available by calling Ann: 065-7087630 or 087-9742791.
The outside broadcast is presented by Derrick Lynch (himself a former pupil at Scropul National School) and Michael Marron, and produced by Julie Brosnan. Technician was Brian Doyle. Taking part were Principal of Scropul National School, Mrs Patricia Rynne, teacher Mrs Dolores Montgomery and many past and present pupils.
