Interview with Merrell Fankhauser 60's Cult Singer/Guitarist

Repost0

About the show

Fankhauser is American singer, songwriter and guitarist who was most active in the 1960s and 1970s with bands including the Impacts, Merrell & the Exiles, Fapardokly, HMS Bounty, Fankhauser-Cassidy Band, and MU. He moved from surf to folk-rock to psych and progressive. Noted rock writer Richie Unterberger says "If the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame held elections for artists most highly esteemed by collectors of rare records, Fankhauser would be one of the first inductees." He's hung with the likes of Nilsson, Captain Beefheart, Ed Cassidy from Spirit and even Willie Nelson. His song 'Tomorrow's Girl' will be on the forthcoming Rhino boxed set called WHERE THE ACTION IS! LOS ANGELES NUGGETS 1965-1968. We have a phone chat with Merrell at his home in California. Hosted by Steve di Costanzo from WPKN. Interview on 9/11/09. 30 minutes with some music and talk.
