A comment left on an online article about Oprah's purchase of 10% of WeightWatchers stock said the real question is, "Can WeightWatchers save Oprah?" The backdrop of this comment is, of course, that every article has the subject and object of this sentence reversed to: "Can Oprah save WW?" The real question to me, as a lifetime member of WW is "Can Oprah and WeightWatchers save one another?" (Podcast listeners can access the show notes by clicking here.)
I loved the original comment because Oprah has no track record of keeping weight off but a well documented history, like many of us, of being able to lose weight. I haven't watched her since she left regular TV (I don't have cable) but I suspect the real question for her is whether she can define long term diet success in terms of five years rather than one year?
