About the show

Playing tracks by

Dubben, Restless Soul ft Zansika, Beatconductor ft. Big Daddy Kane, Kenny Loggins, Povo and more.

btw this week's show is more in the funk/soul category if you want to recommend. :)

This week's edition is a bumper edition featuring a series of labels that have had a great influence on my record collection. Coming out of Sweden the Raw Fusion label was the first one to grab my attention and then a series of labels spun off of that with the prolific G.A.M.M., Jugglin, Swedish Brandy, Spicy, Dicey, Soundscape and Homegrown. The one thing that unites all these is the consistent quality of soul, funk, latin, hip hop and electronic music they were and in some cases are still putting out. After digging through my collection I realised there's enough for 3 or 4 mixes so here is part 1 and look out for part 2 later on this year. I mean I didn't get to drop Red Astaire's "Follow Me," which is definitely one of my favorite tracks for all those labels put together. Enjoy. Listen below or download from here. Please leave a comment or favor the mix over at MixCloud.

hey @jazzcat thanks man but it's really all down to the quality of the records coming out of GAMM & Raw Fusion :)

I'm positive about Bobby Byrd because I have the original recording of that track. If that record is a JB tribute it is no wonder that it features Bobby Byrd: he was the warming up act for JB, and also participated in JB's shows as far as I know.

I need to check that James Brown/Bobby Byrd thing cause since it's a JB tribute record it seems odd to be Bobby Byrd but then again...

Great mix, really enjoyed it. Only #19 is not James Brown but Bobby Byrd, of course singing very JBish.
