In a couple of years, when we look back on the history of techno in the noughties,Wagon Repair will be one of the most talked about names. Founded in 2004, the Canadian label has developed its personality around forever forward looking music, instantly recognisable graphic design and, above all, a group of musicians who are like family to each other. Danuel Tate is one of them. A precocious pianist based in jazz, he got to know Mathew Jonson and Tyger Dhula in 1994, which would change his perspective forever. He discovered electronic music and his modes of musical expression multiplied. Ever since, he has been developing a sound that has made it possible for the words “jazz” and “house” to be used together in a sentence without it being a compilation for “still got it” oldies or bars that have the word “lounge” in their name.
