These days, Cookin’ Soul wouldn’t exactly be the first name to spring to mind if you’re asked to pin down the most relevant figure in Spanish hip-hop today. It’s not, however, totally crazy to think that they’re the most international artists on the rap scene, remembering that they’ve worked with people like Soulja Boy, The Game, DJ Drama and Sean Paul. While Spanish hip-hop has been growing as a domestic scene, multiplying its representatives, upping its market share and fostering personalities that frequently appear in the mass media, three men were busy flooding the Internet with their beats and videos. From Valencia, Bigsize, Zock and Milton were designing a conquering strategy, previously unseen in southern Europe, based on the blessings of DYI and on saturating the blogosphere with material (remixes, mash-ups, mixtapes andvideoblogs, infecting everybody who paid attention with the “boss” tag), at your disposal with a single mouse click.
