A marvellous mix recorded live at the Hardware Show in a very tightly packed Mafa Bar in Guangzhou. Two sets here from the night. The microphone feedback was too much to be recorded so you'll just have to trust us as to how good the atmosphere was. A pleasure to host this month, Biting Eye!
For those who don't know the Hong Kong underground mainstay, Biting Eye (aka Ben Bridges) combines elements of Acid House and Ttchno performed live on analogue synthesizers and drum machines. His live performances have seen him play alongside electronic heavyweights such as The Amorphous Androgynous (FSOL), Propellerheads, Shpongle, Hallucinogen, DJ Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction), Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), Tsuyoshi Suzuki, and Zen Paradox.
His love for the TB-303 encouraged him to start the TB-303 Owner's Club, which has grown to include some veterans of the acid scene. In 2013, he started Acidchicken Records as a platform to release a compilation album featuring new songs from the TB-303 Owner's Club's most prominent members. The album Compiled Vol.1 clocked 40,000 downloads in the first month. The second compilation was released on Worldwide TB-303 appreciation day, 30th March 2015 and features 40 tracks from artists all over the world. Acidchicken will be releasing some exclusive albums in 2015/16 from Citric Acid (Germany), Magnet 303 (Malta), Guxi (Japan) and Sirc (Australia).
2016 has been the busiest year yet culminating with this month's hosting of the one and only Ceephax Acid Crew in Hong Kong, which Phoenix Radio is very pleased to support.
