Podcast by Dr. Jordan B. Peterson republished by Philosophy Workout.
Description: The Biblical patriarch Abram (later: Abraham) enters into a covenant with God in the next sequence of stories. The history of Israel proper begins with the Abrahamic stories, which detail a well-developed individual personality who heeds the call to adventure, journeys courageously away from his family and country of origin into the foreign and unknown, encounters the disasters of nature and the tyranny of mankind and, maintaining his relationship with God, triumphs nonetheless.
How is this all to be understood? The covenant is an ark, symbolically speaking. The agreement with God to move forward into the world, despite its insufficiency, is the precondition for "life more abundantly."
