Ich ruf

Ich ruf

Playing tracks by

Christopher Herrick, Ton Koopman, Tatiana Petrovna Nikolaïeva, Wilhelm Kempff, Gerard Abiton and more.

BWV639, Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ (I call for you, Lord Jesus Christ) by JS Bach is a prayer for faith, and it is interesting to hear not only how different organists approach it but also how it sounds when transcribed for different instruments.
In this mix, we start with Christopher Herrick at the Metzler organ in the Stadtkirche St Martin, Rheinfelden, Switzerland and end with Doc & Lena Selyanina’s take on the piece from their album Distant Transmissions*. Transcriptions are for piano, guitar, cello, harmonium, trumpet, oboe, and more.

* Since 2005, Finnish producer Doc and Russian pianist Lena Selyanina have been co-creating electronic ambient, neoclassical and avant-garde music. Distant Transmissions was their first release.
