I am not a country music DJ but, because I freelance for several local event companies, I find myself getting booked to DJ a lot of country music weddings. And, having now played country music at weddings here in Central Texas for more than three years, I've got a lot of songs that I love and love to play out. So this mix began with me picking out my absolute favorite country songs before I recalled an idea that flashed across my mind months ago: "What if I made a DJ mix that consisted entirely of a subset of 'boyfriend' country songs about how much the narrator loves 'doing it' with his partner?" At the weddings I DJ, these types of songs like "Your Man," "Getting You Home," and "That Look" usually go over really well on the dancefloor. So this mix touches on that theme and a couple of others: you'll hear songs about desire, longing, heartbreak, and hooking-up that are at times wistful, comical, and confident. And it's all smoothly mixed and blended in Ableton Live. Enjoy!
