VOLUME VI finally is back to blow yr mind away with the usual mix (some of them very obscure) of 60s psychedelic folk acid rock to 70s heavy prog rock, loosely based around one theme; Sea Stories, inspired by the concept albums of Motorpsycho (Death Defying Unicorn), Mastodon (Leviathan) and Ahab (The Giant). As usuall there is a nice variation of heavy tripedelica that won't dissapoint anyone.
From the west coast sound of Jefferson Airplane and the Doors, to the UK prog rock of King Crimson and the very underrated Fantasy, to the Scandinavian prog rock of Elonkorjuu, Kalevala and Aunt Mary, the guitarpyroflaming of Tommy Bolin's Zephyr, the heavy psych of my all time fave Captain Beyond, Leafhound and Incredible Hog (two bands who delivered the goods at Roadburn), the timeless folk of Tim Buckley and two fantastic songs by the Dutch most succesful rock band Golden Earring. Oh yeah, btw my fave sea novel is The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym by Edgar Allan Poe.
