Peggy Doherty experienced her Dad’s PTSD and grew up believing that if she were perfect, he would not treat her so unlovingly. After a lifetime of minimizing her feelings of judgement, shame, and blame, Peggy has now arrived at a moment of forgiveness for her father. Beginning her life in Rhode Island, Peggy moved to Portland in 1979, practicing the “geographic cure” by putting 3,000 miles between her and her Irish-Catholic family. She worked for the community colleges in the area for several years before retiring and currently lives on a floating home with her spouse and a black Labrador, Kyra, who is a service dog extraordinaire!
