At the Kings of Concrete event held in Dublin in June 2010, I decided to lay down samples off graffiti artists talking about the art form over certain breaks in the records I was playing during my set.
I decided to extend that idea by putting together this mix, which has been far the most complex mix I have undertaken to date.
Either the artists reference the tracks in this mix or the tracks reference graffiti, or the tracks are by graffiti artists.
You can hear the words of Futura 2000, Maser, Iz the Wiz, Drax, Seen, Dondi, Crash, Skeme and Lee.
It took four months of thinking how I was going to structure the mix, recording of samples, remixing the DJ Shadow and Grandmaster Melle Mel tracks using turntables / cd players as opposed to using editing software and then the final edit was done live in one take, I used 2 turntables & 2 cd' decks and a lot of thinking in order to complete this mix.
