Need I say more? Not really, but I want to.
I gotta admit, I heard of Mos Def before I discovered Black Star or Talib Kweli. I remember I had taped the “Ms Fat Booty” video on VHS and I rewinded that tape all weekend long, until I knew every word of the song. I bought Mos Def’s “Black on Both Sides” album first and discovered Black Star later. After that, I got hooked on the “Train of Thought” album Talib did with Hi-Tek (as Reflection Eternal). Their sound was so different and mesmerizing … Oh, those good old Rawkus days! I even had a big graffiti version of the Rawkus logo on my bedroom wall ! Yeah, I guess you could say I’m a fan =)
