Some more tracks from the Ugly Pop Records re-issue series on the show today! We’re hearing from two Canadian garage rock bands from the 60s – The Northwest Company (Vancouver) and A Passing Fancy (Toronto), as well as the only recorded output of Edmonton’s Rock N Roll Bitches, whose 7″ Wild Wild West was recorded in 1980. Vancouver listeners can purchase copies of these 7″s from Moloch Records.
We have brief detour into the world of visual arts today with a special on ‘Pleased To Meet You: Introductions by Gwyn Hanssen Pigott’ which is showing at the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) in Vancouver until March 2013. Gwyn Hanssen Pigott is a world-renowned Australian ceramicist who was invited to pick out objects from the MOA collection and place them together in an exhibit, purely by reference to form and aesthetics. I attended the opening of the exhibit a few weeks back and recorded an interview with Gwyn herself as well as a curator of the MOA.
