Race & Media in a Changing Landscape-Panel discussion sponsored by Bay Area Black Journalists-BABJA

The Bay Area Black Journalists Association (BABjA) in collaboration with the Maynard Institute presented a panel discussion in Oakland on September 8th focusing on the correlation between race and media and the ways in which social media has impacted the dissemination of news.
The panel moderated by veteran journalist and community activist, Davey “D” Cook. Panelists were KPIX reporter Christin Ayers; P Frank Williams, Emmy Award winning producer for TVOne's Unsung; Armand Carr of KBLX and TMZ’s Van Lathan, who was recently catapulted into the social media spotlight following his insightful confrontation with Kanye West on TMZ’s live show in response to West’s comments regarding slavery being a choice.
