'The role of local radio in promoting local identity: the impact of reducing local programming in Newcastle and the North East.'

Are we losing local radio in the UK? Recent cuts to local programming has left many radio stations around the country with very little truly local content. In this podcast I explore the current landscape of UK radio, looking at the potential impact of such cuts on how 'local' a station really feels. With a specific look at how local and regional stations promote Geordie identity in the North East, this one-off episode covers the past, present, and possible future of local radio.

Special thanks go to David Lloyd, for his invaluable insight.

Thanks also to J. Willgoose (Public Service Broadcasting), Ben Howard, Sascha Ende, and Kevin MacLeod, for the backing music heard throughout this podcast.
