About the show

Playing tracks by

Kerri chandler, Its a Secret, Loco Dice, DBX , Omar S. / Alex Smith and more.

The style of this mix isn't what I'm known for playing, especially not here on Mixcloud, but it's how I imagine myself playing to a big room (something which I've never really had the chance to do, but would very much enjoy). It's the sort of music I love to hear on a big system, assembled from some very special records I have picked up over the years and occasionally get to play at the rare club gig or afterparty.

In fact, some of my best memories behind the decks are of ripping through stacks of techno and house, often on three decks, me in an almost dreamstate, a zone, at late night parties in Minneapolis (http://i.mixcloud.com/CDzq8). After cutting my teeth on disco and funk, holding long blends, dropping acappellas and other DJ tools, and running three decks is such a pleasure.

As always, all vinyl. My apologies for the abrupt ending; I didn't want to go over the time limit.

Nice to hear someone else focussing on the big room aspect of WHP... so many identi-house mixes in this competition! Keep it up and best of luck.

[ And feel free to give mine a listen if you get the chance ;-) ]

When they said "DJs who...are able to use the tools available on Mixcloud and across the web to promote themselves" I don't think they meant spamming the other contest entries. I think they maybe want you to reach out to people who maybe haven't heard about the contest or the brands involved. Just an idea.
