BBE emerged as a label around the time I started DJing, and they’ve been with me all the way—or I’ve been with them, I should say, from my first BBE purchase, Mad Styles and Crazy Visions, to my last, Off Track III.
Rather than try to cover the whole genre spectrum BBE puts out, I focused on one of their many styles—one that only a few of the other contest entries have explored: Disco. BBE, aside from releasing original music, has been home to some of the greatest compilations and mixes to come out in the past decade, and I wanted to pay tribute to that side of the label
I made this mix with records, no loops or effects. It's not super tight, but it was the better of two takes. All of the songs came off BBE vinyl compilations except for the Million Dollar Orchestra original. I also used original releases of two songs from the Kings of Diggin' compilation which were not included on the 2LP.
