The Hall of the Woods used to be purple. Now it's black, and it's got a new roof. It used to have roller skates on a rack so one could skate around on the slat floors, and cats would explore up in the rafters, and Elm would yammer disjointedly about pentagramal flower arrangements and the colonialist agenda of imposing architectures such as the old stone library downtown. Things happened there. All kinds of things. You could walk the tracks in from town any night of the week and find something with subtitles on the projector, or an all-night mugwort trance session, or a spontaneous stew where every ingredient in the house had to be represented, at least molecularly; before i knew it it was the meeting place for some esoteric mystery science group, and before that, hallowed ground to hares and does and foxes. Indescribable performances occurred at the Hall, most documented only in the hazy memories of the audiences. This set sounded out over Solsticetide snows, a few days shy of 2010...
