41: Health At Every Size and the Fat Acceptance Movement

A growing trans-disciplinary movement called Health at Every Size (HAES) shifts the focus from weight management to health promotion. The primary intent of HAES is to support improved health behaviors for people of all sizes without using weight as a mediator; weight loss may or may not be a side effect. Have you heard chatter about the Health At Every Size movement and/or the Fat Acceptance Movement? There are so many misconceptions and myths surrounding these ideas and Nicole Geurin, MPH, RD came on the show to help dispel the misunderstandings about not giving up, but moving on from dieting.  Links mentioned in this episode: https://www.sizediversityandhealth.org http://haescommunity.com http://www.lindabacon.org/haesbook/ https://nicolegeurin.com https://haeslive.com Evaluating the evidence for a paradigm shift about weight: https://nutritionj.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1475-2891-10-9 Dare to Not Diet article about what HAES is NOT: https://daretonotdiet.wordpress.com/2015
