BBC Radiophnic Workshop and the work of its individual composers like Daphne Oram, American contemporaries like Raymond Scott have been influential on British electronics music, especially in 90’s electronica and the more recent crop of electronic artists. Library music has inspired recent artists like Demdike Stare and Coil in the 90's. In the spirit of YouTube user ArchivesListening’s “Broadcast Origins” or “Stereolab Origins” here is a mix that serves a similar purpose. First the earlier work followed by the more recent work, and then the next example, and so on. Includes Aphex Twin, Meat Beat Manifesto, Coil, Portishead, Bibio, Broadcast and the Focus Group, and Roj influenced by DeWolf Music, KPM Library, Todd Dockstater, Daphne Oram. Some may be coincidence, but with others the homage is obvious. Bubble and Squeak by Mike Vickers and Bubble and Squeak 2 by AFX end the mix just to hear them in sequence. Eerily they are both 1:43 in length. Includes download: http://bit.ly/Q2E2dY
