Noel Edmonds & Tony Blackburn 10th Anniversary of BBC Radio 1 30th September 1977 Part 2

This is part 2 of my 4-hour recording from the 10th Anniversary of Radio 1. It comprises around 30 minutes of Noel Edmonds Breakfast Show and around the same of a very gravelly Tony Blackburn, he's got the lurgi. Great soundbite from Lou Rawles. Noel rings people who don't really remember what they were doing on an opening Day 10 years before. Tony speaks to centenarian? Makes you realise how times have changed, the nation's number one really was family entertainment 40 years ago.

An extraordinary 0830 breakfast news bulletin, too. Three minutes long, no music beds, no actuality, quite a wordy script style, even Foreign News, and all read by the rather-posh voiced Tim Gudgin from Radio 2 and 4. Can't imagine ANY of that happening now.

No we'd get a gabbling 23 year old female corncrake with an irritating Mancunian accent pronouncing Rowbotham as the famous cricketer with a row in front.

Great music
Two very famous dj's of that time and now I suppose.

The only thing was the inclusion of Phil Spector, who musically I respected, but he was always a little weird, and a prison term currently being served, is proving that.

But Dear Tony , you were a little bit duped , as we all were, by Mr Glitter, calling him one of the nicest guys around. I bet you regret that one.

Otherwise, it's a marvellous glimpse of that time.
Thank you

yes I don't suppose he'd like that sound bite broadcast today. He gey's embroiled with Jonathan King in the next installment
