Speedy - News from Nowhere

Speedy - News from Nowhere

Playing tracks by

Speedy.

Speedy were a great 90s indie band from the Britpop era who, unlike their Sheffield contemporaries Pulp and Longpigs, never found the success their music deserved. This, their début album, was recorded in 1997 but was never released as the band were dropped by their label and split soon after.

For 15 years nobody has heard this record.. until now.

We think that this is a fantastic album and are delighted to be able to put it online. We want as many people as possible to hear this great 90s album, so please share as widely as you can. If you'd like to know more please head over to www.britpop.org.uk or www.facebook.com/britpoprevival. Also, Philip Watson, former singer in Speedy, will be a guest on the January edition of the Britpop Revival Radio Show so please tune in.

Listen. Enjoy. Share.

FANTASTIC! I saw Speedy live in 1996 when I was 16 in a place called The Joiners in Southampton, the night before my maths GCSE! Happy days! They were brilliant live. They are still one of my fave bands of all time. I have been trying for years to find this album, and now I've finally heard it, it was well worth the wait :-). It's almost criminal this never got released. It really should be made available to download/buy on CD-with a cheeky little revival tour, well that would be just tremendous :-) Charlie X

Glad you like it Gary - that's the original album, checked with the band. We will be putting up the full 'Speedy Story' interview shortly and will throw in all the B-sides we can get our hands on though, Dead Sheep included!

Gary Prince

This is great, but sure Dead Sheep and Mick & Mandy were on the original album?

Martin Wallbridge

Quality should be re-released

Peter Backler

First heard Speedy on Shine 7 with "Boy Wonder" and always loved it. This has to get a proper release, goosebumps from start to finish!! Feel like i'm 16 again listening to this...a proper masterpiece and criminal that it wasn't released back in the day. Pete. x

Boys and Girls, you were (still are) genius. Revival tour next step? Dude

Kerron Cross

This is the best Christmas present ever. My favourite band growing up!

John Halton

Well worthy of a full release.
