The eighth round of U.N.-sponsored peace talks in Geneva faltered this month, to the disappointment of Syria envoy Steffan de Mistura, who called failed negotiations a “missed opportunity." On this episode of Deeply Talks, Hashem Osseiran, deputy managing editor, speaks with Rami Khouri, senior public policy fellow at the American University of Beirut and non-resident senior fellow with the Middle East Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School, and Max Suchkov, editor of Al-Monitor’s Russia-Mideast coverage, about the prospects and challenges of a settlement for Syria.
